Terms of Use for EcoScanly

These Terms of Use govern your use of EcoScanly, a product environmental evidence scanner developed by SWEAF®. By using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. Personal and Lawful Use

You may use EcoScanly for personal, non-commercial, lawful product research. Do not interfere with the app, misuse connected services, distribute malicious modifications, or use the app to violate another person’s rights or applicable law.

2. Informational Purpose Only

EcoScanly provides environmental information and source transparency for general informational purposes. It is not professional, scientific, medical, nutritional, allergy, product-safety, legal, financial, or purchasing advice.

Always check current packaging, manufacturer information, certifications, warnings, ingredients, local guidance, and your own needs before using or buying a product.

3. Scores, Evidence, and Alternatives

Scores, labels, ingredients, images, freshness dates, and other product fields may be incomplete, outdated, incorrectly submitted, unavailable, or changed by a third-party source.

“Not rated” means no supported environmental score was available. It is not a neutral or passing result. Suggested alternatives are limited comparisons based on available category and score data. They are not endorsements, guarantees, or complete lifecycle assessments.

4. Limited Licence

SWEAF® grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the installed app in accordance with these Terms and applicable app-store rules. No ownership in the app or SWEAF® branding is transferred to you.

5. Local Data and Device Permissions

Scan activity, saved products, product cache, and sync metadata are stored locally. You are responsible for your device, permissions, backups, and deletion choices. Camera access is optional, and manual barcode entry is available.

6. User-Initiated Sharing and Reports

You are responsible for content and destinations you choose through Share, Copy barcode, Report product data, email, and external links. Do not present EcoScanly results as verified guarantees or use sharing features unlawfully.

7. Third-Party Services and Data

EcoScanly may use Open Food Facts and configured manifest or image hosts. Their availability, content, licences, and privacy practices are controlled by their respective operators.

Product data and trademarks remain the property of their owners and may be subject to separate open-data or intellectual-property terms. Open Food Facts data used by the app is attributed in-app under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).

8. Intellectual Property

EcoScanly’s original code, design, copy, and visual identity are protected intellectual property. SWEAF® is a registered trademark. Third-party product names, brands, images, data, and licences are not claimed as SWEAF® property.

9. Updates and Availability

SWEAF® may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features to improve accuracy, compatibility, security, or compliance. Internet access, source availability, region, and device differences may affect results and performance.

10. As-Is Service

EcoScanly is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by law. SWEAF® does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, complete product coverage, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, preservation of local data, or compatibility with every device.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SWEAF® is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of the app, reliance on product information, a purchasing decision, third-party content, or loss of local data. These Terms do not limit rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Ending Use and Changes

You may stop using EcoScanly at any time, erase its local data, and uninstall it. SWEAF® may restrict distribution where required by law, app-store policy, security, or misuse prevention. The latest Terms will be published with a revised date. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply.
