Privacy Policy for EcoScanly

EcoScanly is a local-first product environmental evidence scanner developed by SWEAF®. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is requested from external product-data services, and the controls available to you.

1. Privacy Summary

EcoScanly does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, tracking, or profiling SDKs. SWEAF® does not receive your scan history, saved-product list, or camera images through normal app use.

• No user account, sign-in, or cloud profile
• No advertising ID, behavioural analytics, or cross-app tracking
• No location, contacts, microphone, or general file access

2. Data Stored on Your Device

EcoScanly stores the following information in the app's private local storage so features work across sessions:

• Scanned barcodes, latest scan time, and repeat-scan counts
• Products you save and cached product records
• Product names, brands, image links, scores, evidence, source, and freshness metadata returned by product-data sources
• Barcode aliases and product-sync version or last-check metadata

3. Camera Access

Camera permission is requested only when you open the barcode scanner. Barcode frames are processed on-device to recognise a code. EcoScanly does not take, save, or upload a photo or video. Manual barcode entry remains available if you do not grant camera access.

4. Online Product Lookups and Sync

When a barcode is not already cached and you request a lookup, EcoScanly sends that barcode to Open Food Facts. Product images may be loaded from image URLs returned by the data source. The app may also request a fixed EcoScanly manifest URL to check for curated product-data updates.

These requests can expose your IP address and standard request metadata to the relevant service or hosting provider under its own privacy practices. EcoScanly does not attach your scan history, saved list, name, email address, location, or an advertising identifier to these requests.

5. Sharing, Clipboard, and External Apps

Sharing occurs only when you tap Share. EcoScanly gives your device share sheet a generated product-result message, and you choose whether and where to send it. Copy barcode writes the selected barcode to the system clipboard. Report, support, website, source, and public-policy actions open an external email or browser app.

Content you send, copy, or open outside EcoScanly is then handled by the selected app or service under its own terms. EcoScanly does not receive the share destination or read your browsing activity.

6. Support Communications

If you voluntarily email SWEAF®, we receive the email address, message, product details, diagnostic information, and attachments you choose to send. They are used to respond, investigate issues, and maintain reasonable support records. They are not sold or used for advertising.

7. Security, Retention, and Deletion

Local data is held in the app's private storage and remains until you use EcoScanly's erase control, clear app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. SWEAF® has no remote copy of this local activity and cannot restore it after deletion.

Future scans or sync actions can download public product-source data again. A support email or content you shared to another service must be deleted from that destination; contact SWEAF® about deletion of a support communication.

8. Children's Privacy

EcoScanly is a general-audience shopping information tool and is not directed specifically to children under 13. The app does not knowingly create profiles of or collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise product decisions made by a child.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may change if EcoScanly's features, services, SDKs, or legal requirements change. The public copy will show the latest revision date, and Google Play Data safety information should be updated whenever relevant behaviour changes.
