SOhS Data Deletion Instructions

Last updated: 7 July 2026

This page explains how SOhS users can request deletion of app-related data. SOhS currently does not use mobile login or account creation, so deletion mainly concerns anonymous voting data and local app data.

1. Delete Local App Data

You can remove local SOhS data from your Android device by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.

  • Open Android Settings
  • Open Apps
  • Select SOhS
  • Choose Storage
  • Clear storage, or uninstall the app

This can remove local vote markers, the anonymous app-generated device ID, and local reminder settings stored on that device.

2. Request Backend Data Deletion

To request deletion of SOhS backend data related to your app use, email sohs@societyofhomosapiens.org.

Please include:

  • a clear request that you want SOhS app data deleted
  • the approximate date or question you voted on, if known
  • any other context that may help locate anonymous vote records

Because SOhS does not use mobile login, records may be anonymous and may not always be identifiable from an email address alone.

3. What May Be Deleted

  • anonymous app vote records that can reasonably be located
  • associated anonymous app-generated device ID records where identifiable
  • support correspondence handled through email, subject to operational and legal retention needs

4. What May Be Retained

Some aggregate vote counts, security logs, backups, legal records, or already-anonymized public statistics may be retained where deletion is not technically possible or where retention is needed for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute handling, audit history, or service integrity.

5. Processing Time

We aim to review valid deletion requests within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days, unless a different period is required by applicable law or operational constraints.
