SOhS Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026

SOhS is the Android app for Society Of homoSapiens. The app presents a daily human question, lets users vote anonymously, and shows aggregate public results and discussion context.

The official SOhS website privacy policy is available at https://www.societyofhomosapiens.org/privacy/. This page summarizes the current Android app behavior for Google Play and user support.

1. Information the App Uses

The current SOhS Android app does not require login, account creation, ads, payments, camera, microphone, contacts, or precise location permission.

The app may use or collect:

  • an anonymous app-generated device ID stored on your device
  • your selected answer option when you vote on a daily question
  • a country-level signal inferred from device locale or timezone where available
  • local vote markers stored on your device to avoid repeated voting
  • basic technical information needed to load questions, submit votes, and keep the service secure

2. How Information Is Used

  • to load the current daily question
  • to count anonymous votes and show aggregate percentages
  • to prevent duplicate votes for the same question
  • to show country-level vote chips and public pulse summaries
  • to connect users to the related SOhS discussion page
  • to respond to support, correction, deletion, bug, or suggestion requests

3. Notifications

SOhS may request Android notification permission for an optional local daily reminder. The reminder is scheduled on your device, normally around 9:00 AM device time after the second launch if permission is granted. It is not a server push notification service.

4. Location

SOhS does not request GPS, precise location, city, street, or coordinate access. The app may infer a country-level signal from locale or timezone so aggregate country chips can work.

5. Sharing and Service Providers

SOhS does not sell personal information and does not include an advertising SDK. Anonymous vote records and aggregate counts may be processed by the SOhS backend/database provider as a service provider.

6. Data Deletion and Support

You can request deletion or ask privacy questions by emailing sohs@societyofhomosapiens.org. Because SOhS voting is anonymous and tied to an app-generated ID, you may need to provide enough context to help locate relevant anonymous records.
